We are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to take on the leadership role of Chef de Partie at Mulberry PARC in Burnaby. This role is critical in creating a great dining experience for residents. The main responsibilities include preparing meals in accordance with the established menus and standards for portion control and quality plate presentation; providing creative input to menus, food preparation methods and special event menus; receiving all food and supplies and ensuring the kitchen operates at the highest level of sanitation and safety.

Candidate Profile:

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Formal training – Red Seal, together with 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • previous work experience in Senior Living Facility or Hotel required
  • Knowledge and Experience in Protein, Vegetable and Starch cookery required.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Baking and dessert production required.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Soup cookery required.
  • Knowledge and experience in creative food preparation, accurate portion control, food preparation in accordance with menus and use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Ability to read, write and effectively communicate with others
  • Successfully completed Food Safe I and WHMIS
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide leadership when required
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees and residents
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative and use good judgment
  • Positive and cooperative attitude
  • Empathy for and understanding of the needs of seniors, their families and their professional service providers
  • Adaptable to change
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience cooking for Seniors or working in Hotels
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in a leadership role.

Shift Information:

  • shifts are 10.5 hours long on an Averaging Agreement
  • Shifts are Thurs-Sat with an extra shift on Wednesdays every 2 weeks.
  • the shifts run from  around 8:30am-7pm.
  • candidates with the most days of availability or schedule flexibility will be considered over others.

Wage: $24/hour during training shifts, $25.19/hour immediately after
